Limor Lehavi

Partner

Limor Lehavi focuses her practice on insurance-related litigation, including insurance coverage, insurance bad faith, E & O, in-house counsel issues and unfair business practice cases.

Focused on Excellence in Bad Faith Insurance in CA and Federal Courts

She has litigated numerous insurance-based issues under a wide variety of policies on behalf of prominent insurance carriers in California.

Limor has co-tried several high-exposure insurance bad faith cases to verdict in California and federal courts. In many of her cases, she drafted and argued successful dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment and adjudication, motions to dismiss, and demurrers. She has also drafted appellate briefs and successfully argued before several appellate courts.

Examples of successful recent representations include:

  • Unanimous defense verdict in a federal court jury trial of a bad faith claim under a D&O policy
  • Unanimous defense verdict in the Los Angeles Superior Court of a long cause insurance bad faith, fraud and unfair business practice trial arising from alleged asbestos and mold contamination following a fire
  • FRCP 12(b)(6) motion granted in San Francisco Federal Court finding no duty to defend under an advertising injury policy; affirmed on appeal by the 9th Circuit
  • Demurrer sustained in the Orange County Superior Court finding no coverage under a homeowner’s policy for demolition of the insured home by the city
  • Summary Judgment granted in the Los Angeles Superior Court and affirmed on appeal, involving a malpractice claim by an insured under a worker’s compensation policy against in-house counsel appointed by the carrier
  • Summary judgment granted in the Los Angeles Superior Court and affirmed on appeal, involving denial of coverage under a homeowner’s policy for failure to cooperate with the investigation of the claim

Limor frequently provides presentations to insurers on the topic of avoiding bad faith while handling claims. She was recently invited as a guest lecturer at Whittier School of Law in Costa Mesa on the topics of Bad Faith and Subrogation, and recently presented a CEB seminar on the issue of insurance coverage for mold.
